Jul 12, 2019 · I recently purchased a Browning X-Bolt Hells Canyon speed in 30-06 but I haven't put any glass on it yet. I want a 4-16 or a 4-12 power scope. I'm seriously torn between a Vortex Diamondback or Viper or the Nikon P5 or Monarch 3.

I've heard great things about the Vortex, but Leupold has been around for a while. Thanks! Click to expand... I recently picked up the new 2016 Vortex Diamondbacks, 10x42, and love them. Crystal clear glass and pretty lightweight. The tripod adapter on the front is a pretty nice feature for glassing if you don't want to lug around a spotting scope.

Vortex was rock solid on CS. They had a new one to me within two weeks but that was long enough for me to look into some other options. Ended up going with a Sig Kilo 2200 that I caught on a sale. It is at another level of performance and price as well. I could probably still be using Vortex and be happy.

I have had a couple of the fullfield scopes in the past and my buddy has the vortex 6.5-40x44 with duplex and the turret combo, works well on his .223.
